5 last-ditch trades for the Panthers to consider before the 2021 deadline
By Dean Jones
Andre Dillard – OT
The Carolina Panthers are in dire need of some improved consistency on the offensive line. This has become their undoing on countless occasions this season and their current options don’t seem capable of turning things around.
Cam Erving’s production at the left tackle spot leaves a lot to be desired.
The former first-round pick talks a good game during the week, but he is exposed constantly on the edge. And the decision to give him a two-year deal on Day 1 of free agency was nothing short of astonishing.
Erving might be best suited to the interior. But that’s no guarantee.
If the Panthers want to give Sam Darnold any chance of saving his concerning situation, they need to act quickly.
One player who might be available before the deadline is Andre Dillard, who is a backup on the Philadelphia Eagles but has shown flashes of being a legitimate starter during his time on the field in 2021.
Dillard has given up one sack and conceded six penalties from 264 snaps this season. His performance at the Panthers in Week 5 was almost flawless, however, so if the Eagles are willing to part ways with the Washington State product, Scott Fitterer would be wise to make an offer.
