Morgan Fox – Carolina Panthers DL

Again, this has nothing to do with how Morgan Fox is producing. It’s more a case of selling high and the Carolina Panthers getting themselves in a strong position to build through the draft next spring.

Some people may not like that notion. But show me a contending team that doesn’t constantly nail their draft selections.

Fox has been one of the best signings made by the Panthers in 2021. The defensive lineman has a relentless motor and is a proven performer against the run or generating pressure.

Players like that are hard to find. Fox came to the fore alongside Aaron Donald with the Los Angeles Rams last season and he’s put this solid momentum to good use in Carolina.

This is a pretty drastic measure by anyone’s standards.

However, if the Panthers decide to become sellers at the trade deadline given their current plight, then they don’t have many assets that would come with notable compensation if all the team’s gifted young players are off the table.

Trading Fox wouldn’t come with many final repercussions. Even though it would be a big blow to an area of strength for the Panthers over the second half of the campaign.

The chances of Carolina dealing Fox are slim, one suspects. But any team looking for help in this area of the field would be wise to make a call and see where things stand.
