What important things did we discover about the Carolina Panthers during their hard-fought win at the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8?

There are still some things that need cleaning up. But considering the poor run of form accumulated by the Carolina Panthers over the last month, their victory at the Atlanta Falcons was a small step in the right direction.

It proved to be a dog fight between the NFC South divisional rivals. A test of mettle that the Panthers came through to sneak back into the playoff places after eight games of the 2021 season.

Whether they remain in a wildcard spot remains to be seen. This was only one win and Carolina needs to raise their game further in pursuit of keeping this momentum going when the team welcomes the New England Patriots to Bank of America Stadium this weekend.

We found out plenty about the Panthers this weekend. Here are some big things we discovered from a hard-fought triumph on the road.

Carolina Panthers may have a productive guard tandem

This might have happened by default considering the injury problems to Pat Elflein and John Miller, but the Panthers may have stumbled on a productive guard tandem in Michael Jordan and Trenton Scott.

Both players produced fantastic performances at the Falcons. They dominated against the run and proved highly efficient in pass protection, so the Panthers should take notes and go with this duo for the foreseeable future.

Jordan, in particular, has been a revelation following his arrival and subsequent introduction into the lineup. The former Ohio State star is hungry, athletic, and consistent – traits Carolina has sorely missed on the interior.

Atlanta couldn’t be classed as high-quality opposition outside of defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. But considering the problems suffered by the Panthers in this area of the field, this is definitely a cause for encouragement.
