Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT
Other players on the Carolina Panthers’ defense got the headlines, but the performance of Derrick Brown was nothing short of outstanding. The defensive tackle was a commanding force on the interior throughout the contest and became a problem the Atlanta Falcons had no answer for.
Brown may not fill up the stat sheet. However, the selfless work he does at the line of scrimmage had a huge say on proceedings.
The former No. 7 overall selection out of Auburn was constantly causing disruption against the run and when it came to making Matt Ryan’s life uncomfortable. Something that benefits others around him an untold amount.
Many expected Brown to produce Pro Bowl-caliber production in 2021. Although the player and Carolina’s defense has come up short on occasions – especially against Super Bowl contending teams – there has been far more good than bad where the second-year-pro is concerned.
Brown is an integral part of the Panthers’ plans moving forward. His exceptional display at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium was another strong indicator of what a special player he is and how fortunate Carolina is to have him on board.
Things get tougher for the Panthers in the coming weeks. So they’ll be expecting Brown to keep up or perhaps even enhance this sort of production.
