Colby Wooden – DE/OLB (Auburn)

The Carolina Panthers might need another young player at the second level with so much uncertainty surrounding their current options next spring. Marquis Haynes, Haason Reddick, and Jermaine Carter are all looking for new deals, so there might not be enough disposable income to go around if Shaq Thompson remains with the team.

Generating pressure hasn’t been much of a problem for the Panthers overall. Adding a gifted prospect like Colby Wooden into the mix is an intriguing option the organization should consider at this stage of the draft.

The Auburn player can operate with his hand in the dirt as a defensive end or as an outside linebacker. This versatility is a hot commodity for Carolina’s current decision-makers, so Wooden is a player they are probably keeping a close eye on.

Wooden has flashed getting after the quarterback with a nice blend of size and explosiveness. He is also a solid force against the run, with the player demonstrating sound ability to set the edge and make life difficult for opposing running backs.

If that wasn’t enough, Wooden has also been used as a three-technique in obvious pass-rushing situations during his time with the Tigers. So there is a lot to like about his potential.
