Carolina Panthers OL was much-improved in Week 8
It’s been a long process, but the Carolina Panthers may have stumbled on their preferred offensive line unit for the time being. There are still some obvious concerns surrounding Cam Erving at the left tackle position, but everywhere else emerged from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a great deal of credit.
John Miller’s trip to the reserve/injured list saw Trenton Scott occupy the right guard position and look far better than anticipated alongside stud tackle Taylor Moton. This should give the veteran an extended run in the team and possibly keep the spot even when Miller returns to the gridiron.
The same applies to left guard Michael Jordan, who’s been a revelation since his introduction into the lineup. He was a commanding force against the run at the Atlanta Falcons and also held firm in pass protection, which is a major boost for this unit at just the right time.
There are far bigger challenges coming for the protection than they experienced in Week 8. But this encouraging display might have provided Carolina with some pause if they were contemplating a ate trade for some assistance on the offensive line.
Given how little the Kansas City Chiefs accepted for Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, that might have been something to consider. But this group outside of Erving deserves their respect after a dominant display.
