Deshaun Watson approves a Carolina Panthers trade

Whether the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans come to an arrangement is irrelevant. Deshaun Watson also needs to sign off on the deal and waive his no-trade clause.

According to multiple reports before the trade deadline, Watson was only willing to do this for the Miami Dolphins. A deal couldn’t be worked out in time, so the signal-caller needs to reevaluate his current situation providing his matters away from the field conclude in a fashion that is deemed satisfactory for interested parties.

Depending on how this transpires legally, the market for Watson could be robust. Making things even more difficult for the Panthers if they are intent on making yet another bid for the player.

One doesn’t have to look far to see how many teams will be looking for a change at quarterback next offseason. Considering the 2022 draft class has some question marks, it could see organizations looking to veterans in free agency or the trade market for a possible solution.

Watson is no stranger to the Carolinas having played his college football at Clemson en route to becoming the No. 12 overall selection and a Heisman Trophy candidate.

The Panthers need to show they are in a position to contend. Whether that would be enough for Watson to agree to a switch in this scenario is another matter.
