Brady Christensen – Carolina Panthers OL

The situation regarding Brady Christensen could not be more confusing. After the Carolina Panthers traded up in the third round to land the BYU product, there appears a real reluctance from the coaching staff to give the offensive lineman extended minutes in the starting lineup.

Matt Rhule stated that Christensen is struggling to make the necessary adjustments at the next level following his one sole start at the left tackle spot where he thrived in college. But it’s hard to really gauge what the player is capable of as the Panthers seem insistent on utilizing him all over the place rather than focusing on one spot.

Although it may not seem like it, time is of the essence where Christensen is concerned. He is a lot older than most first-year players at 25 years old, so Carolina needs to figure out quickly just what their plan is in the short and long term.

Christensen has been on the field for just 139 snaps in 2021, giving up two sacks and conceding one penalty en route to a 51.9 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Perhaps Christensen and teammate Deonte Brown can make enough strides to play a larger role next time around. But nobody could say that with any confidence at this stage.

There is enough athleticism to suggest Christensen could be productive moving forward. Just how long that’s going to take is another matter.
