Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Robby Anderson makes this list because he’s held to a higher standard. The wide receiver took the Carolina Panthers by storm in 2020 after arriving in free agency from the New York Jets and those in power felt confident more was on the way after giving the player a two-year extension this offseason.

What’s come after that has been less pleasing. Anderson has been a shell of his former self and although there are other mitigating factors regarding his production, one cannot look at his personal contribution with anything other than disappointment.

Through eight games, Anderson has secured just 36 percent of balls thrown his way. Compared this to the 69.9% he was bringing in last season and it’s not hard to see where the problems are coming from.

The Temple product has 208 receiving yards, 18 receptions, two touchdowns, and six drops – 12 percent of the overall targets. Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker have a combined 37.4 quarterback rating when throwing in Anderson’s direction, which is proof something is amiss between the former teammates.

Anderson has the talent to turn it around. But we have been waiting for this for some time now and unless things start improving over the second half of the season, the Panthers have a big decision to make regarding his future with the franchise.
