Panthers Game Today: Panthers vs Patriots injury report, spread, over/under, schedule, live Stream, TV channel
By Dean Jones
The Carolina Panthers are looking to give their hopes of attaining playoff football a big boost with victory over the New England Patriots in Week 9. Last weekend’s win at the Atlanta Falcons was a step in the right direction, but it’s vital Matt Rhule and his roster pick up some further momentum between now and the team’s bye week.
Overcoming an organization led by Bill Belichick hasn’t been the easiest proposition throughout the last two decades. Although the Patriots have been far more vulnerable over the last two campaigns since the head coach and quarterback Tom Brady went their separate ways.
Carolina is the underdog, which has suited them quite well this season on the whole. If each individual can raise their game and work as a unit against a fellow 4-4 team, then having a winning record going into Week 10 is going to be a significant confidence boost for everyone associated with the franchise.
Easier said than done, obviously. But it’s clear Carolina is still talented and all pulling in the same direction.
Will Christian McCaffrey play in Week 9?
It was another encouraging week of practice for Christian McCaffrey, who came through his latest spell on the field unscathed. Carolina has now officially activated the All-Pro running back, so the chances are he’s going to see some action.
Just how much that will be is unclear. Rhule stated that McCaffrey will be on a limited snap count, but whether that equates to fewer touches or not is another matter.
McCaffrey has been sorely missed. And his presence in the lineup completely shifts how New England approaches this one from a defensive standpoint.
Panthers Injury Report vs Patriots Week 9
Carolina is dealing with some injury problems ahead of Week 9. The status of quarterback Sam Darnold is officially questionable after clearing the concussion protocol, although he is dealing with a shoulder issue suffered on the same play.
It seems like all systems go for cornerback C.J. Henderson, who carries no designation into the contest after recovering from a shoulder complication.

- QB Sam Darnold – Questionable (concussion/right shoulder)
