Deshaun Watson
This has quickly become a tiresome topic. But until Deshaun Watson is traded by the Houston Texans, the Carolina Panthers will always come up as a potential destination.
It doesn’t appear as if Watson is too keen on waiving his no-trade clause to the Panthers before the deadline. The former Clemson sensation was keener on the Miami Dolphins despite their dismal record.
The Panthers were willing to risk it all for Watson earlier this year before some serious legal matters resurfaced and they were forced to turn their attentions elsewhere. Sam Darnold hasn’t worked out, so providing matters away from the gridiron resolve in a satisfactory fashion, Carolina might go back in for the player whether he likes it or not.
Watson is unlikely to play this season. The Texans have washed their hands of the signal-caller and are perhaps regretting not letting him leave when he originally requested a trade.
There should be a robust market for Watson if he’s cleared of no fewer than 22 sexual misconduct allegations. This would make it difficult for the Panthers to acquire a player they’ve made no secret of their love for.
If Watson is convicted, then a suspension and possible jail sentence are possible. That makes it impossible for anyone – the Panthers included – to pull the trigger on this trade.
