Sam Hartman
There is always one quarterback that comes from nowhere en route to becoming a high-end NFL Draft pick. Sam Hartman might be that guy in 2022.
The Wake Forest sensation has seen his draft stock soar throughout the season. Hartman displays all the intangibles normally associated with a stud signal-caller at the next level, which is something of a surprise considering his production under center before the current campaign.
In nine games this season, Hartman has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,873 yards, 27 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a passer rating of 168.9. His performance in the shootout against North Carolina was absolutely extraordinary and is sure to have gained the attention of NFL scouts up and down the country.
Hartman can do it all. His arm strength is first class, progressions are where they need to be, and the signal-caller is mobile enough to get away from pressure when it comes his way.
All this bodes well for Hartman. A player that the Carolina Panthers should monitor closely between now and when it’s time to make their selections next spring.
Sam Darnold’s fate is more or less sealed. There are simply too many flaws in his game that aren’t coming on as expected.
Only time will tell as to whether another Sam will be the long-term solution.
