5 reasons bringing Cam Newton back was the right call

Cam Newton still has deep ball prowess
Remember that 80-yard backfoot pass I mentioned earlier? That wasn’t an exaggeration. It’s the kind of thing Cam Newton is capable of.
Just think back on those dimes to Tedd Ginn Jr. down the sideline or the long bombs down the middle to a wide-open Greg Olsen.
During the two seasons since Newton’s initial departure, however, the Carolina Panthers have suffered through check-down central behind Teddy Bridgewater and whatever we can call Sam Darnold’s play this season since Week 3 at the Houston Texans.
Neither of them has been able to put any pressure on opposing corners or safeties because they haven’t had to worry about anyone getting past them. Even if someone did, it’s not like the ball would go that way even if it was intended to at this point.
That will all change with a true gunslinger at the helm once again.
D.J Moore and the excruciatingly drop happy Robby Anderson will finally be able to run down the field and believe that the ball will go to them and be on target. Which in turn will free up the short game to the tight ends and running backs making everyone’s life a bit easier on offense.
With linebackers and safeties having to line up a step further back to guard against that deep ball it will also open up the middle of the field for big runs by either Newton or one of the three feature backs on the team.
In short, having that deep threat again will solve a lot of the offense’s one-dimensional problems.
