Carolina Panthers defense is elite

There are no two ways about it, this Carolina Panthers defense is elite.

One of the best in the league. And the fact they may now even have a competent offense will only enhance that fact.

Multiple times this season we’ve seen Carolina’s defensive unit give its offense the ball back only to see Sam Darnold fail to facilitate a touchdown. We saw the opposite on Sunday.

The two drives Carolina started in Arizona Cardinals territory resulted in two touchdowns. The Panthers had only scored once in its past three games.

The Cardinals were held to just 169 yards of total offense. For comparison, Christian McCaffrey alone had 161 total yards.

Arizona was missing its star quarterback and wide receiver duo of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. However, this offense last week without the aforementioned duo scored 31 points and put up almost 450 yards on the San Francisco 49ers.

Haason Reddick is someone who will be getting paid this offseason. The edge rusher has turned into one of the steals of free agency and now has 9.5 sacks ranking him first in the NFC.

This was something of a revenge game for Reddick who was drafted by Arizona back in 2017. Something that gave him an extra sense of motivation he put to good use.

The more the offense can keep Phil Snow’s unit resting on the sideline, the more they will shine. Carolina punted just three times on Sunday, showing for a change we actually saw some fluidity on offense.
