Zane Gonzalez revenge game benefitted the Carolina Panthers

I’m running out of superlatives for Zane Gonzalez. The red-hot kicker was four-from-four, hitting from 49, 48, 44, and 27 yards, extending his streak to 16 since joining the Carolina Panthers.

Gonzalez spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals but was cut at the end of the 2020 season following some key misses. This was undoubtedly a game he had circled in his calendar and delivered accordingly.

There was something a little poetic as Gonzalez trotted out to a chorus of boos in Glendale for his first field goal from 44 yards and just absolutely drilled it to silence the crowd.

Again a lot of credit must go to Gonzalez on kickoffs also, recording a touchback on all but two of his attempts.

For the season Gonzalez now sits at 19/21 for field goals and 15/16 on extra points. A lot was made of this being a revenge game for Haason Reddick but the former seventh-round pick also came back to haunt his former employers.

It was also another good game for punter Lachlan Edwards, with his three kicks averaging 51 yards. Even with Joseph Charlton designated to return from IR, it seems he is the starter moving forward.
