3 available free agents who could help Cam Newton shine in 2021

Tyler Eifert – TE
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have an embarrassment of riches in the passing game for new quarterback Cam Newton. But if there was one area that could use a little more consistently, it’s production from the tight end position.
Tommy Tremble certainly looks like a player that could become the total package with some additional coaching. The same cannot be said of Ian Thomas, who has never really earned the new regime’s trust and could be heading out of the door when his contract expires next spring.
It’s slim pickings for reliable pass-catching tight ends on the free-agent market. Not entirely unexpected considering we are now 10 weeks into the campaign.
However, Tyler Eifert has the experience to potentially be of some use. Especially when one considers how much success Newton had with a certain tight end by the name of Greg Olsen during his first spell in Carolina.
Eifert’s only Pro Bowl selection was a while ago now. The same year Newton won NFL MVP, to be precise after notching 13 touchdowns with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Injuries haven’t been kind to Eifert, who gained 36 receptions for 349 receiving yards and two scores for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020.
Getting up to speed in a new offense would be difficult. But if there was one man who could maximize his potential this late into the Notre Dame product’s career, it’s Newton.
