5 unsung heroes from Carolina Panthers win at the Cardinals in Week 10
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players emerged as unsung heroes during the team’s incredible win at the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10?
An incredible week for the Carolina Panthers was rounded off in the best possible fashion. Cam Newton’s triumphant return to the organization saw him active and contribute to a pair of touchdowns in their shock win at the Arizona Cardinals, who had the league’s best record coming into the contest.
It’s hard to put into words the momentum shift that occurred in Carolina in the days following their heavy loss to the New England Patriots. Couple this with every other NFC South team falling to losses in Week 10 and things are looking up for the first time in a good while.
Although Newton gets the headlines despite being on the field for just nine snaps, this was a huge collective effort and as the quarterback has been keen to state on numerous occasions since his return, it’s not all about him.
With this in mind, here are five unsung heroes from Carolina’s outstanding victory at the Cardinals.
Unsung Hero No. 1
Trent Scott – Carolina Panthers OL
Things are gradually improving on the offensive line. A lot of that has to do with the introduction of Trent Scott and Michael Jordan as the team’s new guard duo.
Both players were tremendous once again in Arizona, holding their own in pass protection and creating some notable lanes for Christian McCaffrey and others to gain impressive yardage.
Scott made a smooth transition from the edge to form a key component in their turnaround in this area of the field. Although it’s evident that the veteran is something of a liability on the blindside, he seems far more comfortable on the interior and the Panthers would be wise to ride the hot hand for as long as they can.
