Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT
Having players that can flash from a rotational role is the hallmark of any great team. The Carolina Panthers seem to have these in abundance on defense.
One such individual who did just that in Week 10 was Bravvion Roy. The defensive tackle made his presence felt despite playing only 15 snaps, coming up with two significant tackles that stopped Arizona’s offense from moving the chains.
With rookie Daviyon Nixon on the reserve/injured list and Phil Hoskins seemingly a work in progress, the Panthers have no trouble throwing Roy into the mix when DaQuan Jones or Derrick Brown needs some rest. The former sixth-round pick has earned this not only during his time in Carolina but also as part of Matt Rhule and Phil Snow’s game plan at Baylor.
This is all great news for a defense that is clearly among the league’s best. Carolina has the right blend of youth and experience all pulling in the same direction and now, they might just have an offense capable of taking advantage of opportunities consistently.
Roy’s performance will go somewhat overlooked. Especially considering how many headlines Cam Newton is generating after a sensational return.
However, it’s a performance that the coaching staff and those watching a little closer cannot ignore.
