Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR
It’s been tough to watch Robby Anderson struggling this season. The wide receiver deserves a lot of the blame for drops in key moments, but it’s clear something was amiss between the player and quarterback Sam Darnold.
Despite the duo developing chemistry from the time together on the New York Jets, it’s not made a smooth transition to the Carolina Panthers. Darnold’s alarming regression and constant turnovers drew the wrath of Anderson on the sidelines, with his outburst in Week 9 fracturing their relationship almost past the point of no return.
Darnold is now on the reserve/injured list and Cam Newton is back. Something that’s seen Anderson’s smile return.
Both Anderson and Newton are charismatic personalities. So it’s no surprise to see them hit it off right away.
The tandem connected on a touchdown on Newton’s first official pass since returning to the Panthers and they even held a joint press conference together following the win.
Again, this was probably hard for Darnold to watch.
But there is no room for sentiment in the NFL.
If Newton and Anderson can turn their blossoming relationship into solid production, it could see the wideout put up the numbers we saw during the early stages of 2020.
