Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers OLB

When Frankie Luvu signed for the Carolina Panthers on a one-year deal in free agency, there were some who questioned whether or not he’d be on the 53-man roster by Week 1. The outside linebacker flashed at times with the New York Jets, but it was hard to look at his prospects with any real confidence.

It didn’t take long to realize that the Panthers might have a potential bargain on their hands. Luvu was a commanding force both in training camp and the preseason, securing his roster spot and even making the former Washington State star a key part of the rotation.

That was a great start for Luvu. But no more than that.

If he didn’t produce on the field in a competitive setting, his status would be less certain.

Again, the player responded to this challenge masterfully. Luvu has been a relentless presence at the second level and made plenty of big-time plays to further heighten his overall standing within the organization.

Luvu’s outstanding efforts this season have caught the eye of Pro Football Focus with an exceptional 82.8 grading. Not only this, the player’s energy and ability to slot in and make a difference when called upon will surely see the Panthers look to extend him this offseason.
