Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers QB

He might’ve not gotten the win but Cam Newton still played extremely well during his first game back in Charlotte.

After scoring two touchdowns in limited snaps last week, Newton started Sunday’s game and certainly provided a much-needed spark to a Carolina Panthers offense that was reeling two weeks ago.

Unfortunately, Newton was unable to lead the Panthers on a game-winning drive during the team’s two opportunities with less than five minutes remaining. But in his defense, he just finished his first week of practice with the team.

Newton finished the game completing 21-of-27 passes for 189 yards, a touchdown, and a rushing score.

When Newton scored his 24-yard rushing touchdown, he ran to the center of the field, placed the ball down, and did his iconic ‘Superman’ pose that fans had grown to love throughout his first tenure in Carolina.

That moment would’ve gone down in history had the Panthers won this game. Unfortunately, they were unable to.

However, if the defense can get itself back together, Newton seems to be a missing piece for this offense and one of the more encouraging things to take from the loss.
