Which first-round targets that nobody is talking about could the Carolina Panthers potentially end up selecting in 2022?

There is still plenty to play for where the Carolina Panthers are concerned this season, but scouts and key personnel within the organization are already putting plans in place ahead of yet another crucial offseason for the franchise.

The Panthers might end up in the playoffs this time around if everything continues trending in the right direction. However, there are still some obvious problem areas that could even increase given the number of established veterans on the lookout for new deals this spring.

Considering the Panthers don’t have a Day 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft currently, it’s absolutely essential they get their first-rounder right unless trading back for more capital becomes an option.

Carolina Panthers need to find value in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Something that is clearly a possibility considering how active general manager Scott Fitterer has been in this area since arriving from the Seattle Seahawks.

Without further ado, here are five potential first-round prospects that nobody is really talking about the Panthers should be watching closely.

Zion Johnson – OL (Boston College)

The Panthers have some problems that need solving on their offensive line this offseason. Perhaps three new faces are needed if the team extends Michael Jordan, who has been a revelation at left guard since being installed into the lineup.

Zion Johnson is a ferocious interior blocker who plays with an aggressiveness that’s hard not to love. This is matched by superb poise and a controlled technique, making him a difficult proposition to get around.

Although Johnson’s also spent time as a tackle at Boston College, the tape doesn’t lie and he is much better suited to the interior. Somewhere the Panthers might need assistance if they decide not to bring back John Miller and the duo of Brady Christensen and Deonte Brown don’t develop as expected.
