Matt Rhule – Carolina Panthers HC

It’s getting pretty tiresome watching the same old complications emerge from every single defeat suffered by the Carolina Panthers since Matt Rhule took over as head coach. But as long as they keep occurring, the longer we’ll all have to talk about them.

There’s no getting away from it. Rhule was outcoached by the man he replaced when he agreed to take over.

Ron Rivera had Rhule’s number throughout the game, making the correct adjustments after seeing what Carolina was doing offensively and exploiting some obvious weak spots on defense with some personnel he worked with and drafted during his time leading the organization.

Just why Rhule and his staff cannot do the same consistently is unclear.

You could count on one hand – perhaps even one finger – the number of times Carolina’s played solid football after halftime this season. Opposing teams know that if they can keep within touching distance over the opening two quarters, it will give them a good chance of winning.

Rhule is no longer inexperienced at the NFL level. Yet there does not seem to be any progression during in-game management of situations and poor execution at times.

Carolina is the most penalized team in the league now, which also stems from bad coaching and a lack of communication.

Unless things change over the next six games, then many more people will start to question whether or not Rhule is the right man for the job.
