Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

It’s not gone at all according to plan for Robby Anderson this season. The wide receiver looked capable of being a true No. 1 option after a fantastic first year with the Carolina Panthers, going over 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career and becoming an integral part of the locker room in a short space of time.

The Panthers felt confident enough in Anderson’s abilities to give the wideout a two-year extension before the season. Unfortunately for the player and the organization, it hasn’t come with an upturn or even the same sort of production we witnessed in 2021.

Anderson’s problems dropping the football are well documented. There was also some clear friction between the player and Sam Darnold despite their previous relationship when they were teammates on the New York Jets.

Although Anderson has not lived up to expectations just yet, there is hope now the Panthers have Cam Newton under center. The quarterback has breathed life back into the organization and the Temple product now has a smile on his face once again.

Not only this, but Anderson’s catch success rate has increased significantly to 75 percent since Newton returned to the organization.

Hopefully, this is a trend that can continue over the next seven games. Carolina needs Anderson to up his numbers considerably if they want to secure a surprise postseason spot when it’s all said and done.
