4 ways Cam Newton can hurt the Miami Dolphins in Week 12
By Dean Jones
Cam Newton must be efficient
As stated previously, Cam Newton wasn’t tasked with too much from a scheme standpoint against the Washington Football Team. The former NFL MVP had just one week of practice within Joe Brady’s system, so it was always going to take time and hopefully, things should open up a little more this weekend.
Newton flashed some outstanding throws during the loss. He also proved more than capable of gaining yards on the ground when the opportunity arose.
However, it was his efficiency with the football that was perhaps the most impressive takeaway from Newton’s overall performance.
The signal-caller was turnover-free in his first start since 2020 with the New England Patriots. Newton needs to continue this trend at the Miami Dolphins and their well-drilled secondary that features an All-Pro cornerback in Xavien Howard.
That’s not to say Newton cannot take the odd risk here and there.
It’s what has made him such a special talent, after all.
But the best possible chance the Carolina Panthers have of winning this game is by keeping mistakes to a minimum and being efficient in all three phases.
If Newton can do this and other areas hold up their end of the bargain, the Panthers will be in business.
