Xavien Howard – CB

The Miami Dolphins defense has struggled this season. But cornerback Xavien Howard is one of the sure-things when it comes to that side of the ball.

Howard is one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the NFL and will provide a tough challenge for whichever Carolina Panthers wide receiver that lines up against him this week. Although there is plenty of pass-catching talent for Joe Brady to utilize.

The 28-year-old All-Pro made it known before the season that he wanted out of Miami, but he hasn’t let that stop him from performing well this year.

In 10 games this season, Howard has two interceptions, 11 passes defended, 34 tackles and two forced fumbles.

Cam Newton’s presence certainly helps Carolina but it’s no secret that Brady has struggled to get the Panthers offense going this season. Howard will certainly do his best to make that continue and he’ll probably be tasked with trying to limit D.J. Moore’s overall influence on proceedings.

Moore and Robby Anderson have the speed. What’s important is putting this to good use and making things uncomfortable for Howard on a rare bad day.
