4 key Panthers storylines to watch at the Dolphins in Week 12
By Dean Jones
Will increased urgency help the Carolina Panthers?
Last weekend’s defeat at Bank of America Stadium essentially makes this an elimination game for the Carolina Panthers. A win and .500 record heading into their much-needed bye week would give them a fighting chance of attaining a wildcard spot despite their difficult run of games down the stretch, with defeat all but ending their hopes.
The players have been hurting this week. Especially on defense where it wasn’t good enough against the Washington Football Team.
Couple this with the magnitude of their Week 12 game at the Miami Dolphins and there should be a significant increase in urgency across the board.
The same applies to Miami, who haven’t given up hope of attaining a postseason place just yet. Although they’ll probably have to win out or lose just one more game to achieve this feat.
It’s sure to bee a physical contest decided by fine margins. Whatever team handles the pressure-cooker atmosphere better will emerge successful.
Time for big personalities and quality players to stand up and be counted. Otherwise, some of the renewed hope across the Panthers organization following Cam Newton’s return will evaporate.
One thing’s for sure, we’ll find out exactly what this team is made of in a do-or-die situation this weekend.
