Carolina Panthers OL had a rough day

After a few weeks of improved production, the Carolina Panthers offensive line reverted to type at the Miami Dolphins. This group looked flustered for the entire afternoon against a formidable 3-4 front that blitzes more than any other NFL team – something they didn’t appear ready for in the slightest.

It’s almost as if the Panthers were unaware of this fact. Cam Newton’s struggles were evident and will be well documented throughout the bye, but the protection in front of the quarterback left a lot to be desired.

Just why Carolina continues to utilize Dennis Daley as a left tackle is unfathomable. Even when Brady Christensen came into the game, he was slotted at left guard with the former sixth-round pick occupying the blindside.

A bemusing decision and further proof that this coaching staff is not handling personnel effectively.

Pat Elflein has a tough day at center after showing real promise since replacing Matt Paradis. It’s clear this area of the field needs to take the highest of priorities during the offseason.

The Panthers have ignored this key positional group for too long. And to make matters worse, the wide receiver they picked at No. 59 overall instead of drafting a potential franchise left tackle was a healthy scratch.

Unbelievable, really.
