4 options the Carolina Panthers have with Cam Newton in 2022

Cam Newton gets a one-year “prove it” deal
Another potential option the Carolina Panthers have where Cam Newton is concerned would be giving him a one-year, “prove it” deal. This would give a better perspective on what he could do with a full offseason learning the scheme and familiarizing himself with some outstanding weapons in the passing game.
This is something the signal-caller hasn’t experienced as yet after being denied this in 2020. Coming in more than midway through the season isn’t the easiest of situations, but one that Newton has handled with aplomb so far.
Going with this possibility gives Carolina some short-term security at the quarterback position. It also provides Newton with a starting job in 2022 after two offseasons of uncertainty surrounding his future.
This seems like a win-win scenario providing the money works for all parties.
The Panthers won’t want Newton walking out of the door if he keeps up his solid production over their remaining games. It’s not as if Sam Darnold would be a better option, in any case.
Extending Newton for one season also allows the Panthers to focus on other positional groups in free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft. Something else to potentially consider when exploring this option.
