4 options the Carolina Panthers have with Cam Newton in 2022

Cam Newton gets a multi-year deal
If the Carolina Panthers conclude that Cam Newton is the man to lead them for the foreseeable future, then offering the quarterback a multi-year extension becomes a possibility. This would probably be the last megabucks deal of the player’s career and could ensure he retires as a member of the organization that initially brought him into the league way back in 2011.
This would see things come full circle. The Panthers’ new regime decided they’d be better off without Newton before the 2020 season, only to go back and patch things up with the player just 18 months later.
Newton is the wrong side of 30 now and might not be the dynamic weapon of old. But the last three games have shown that he can still make a serious impact on proceedings with elite playmaking ability.
If the Panthers end up giving Newton a three or four-year contract, he becomes their future once again. And the move would be met with widespread approval from the team’s loyal fanbase who’ve found it difficult to get behind both Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold’s inconsistent play.
There is a good chance Newton stays beyond 2021. He loves the city, the supporters, and his teammates. And make no mistake, the feeling is more than mutual.
