4 potential destinations if the Panthers let Donte Jackson walk in 2022
By Dean Jones
Which teams could potentially target cornerback Donte Jackson if the Carolina Panthers decided to let him walk in 2022 free agency?
There hasn’t been a lot of good news to shout about for the Carolina Panthers of late. If fans were hoping for some sort of reprieve during the bye week, they haven’t been afforded this luxury over the first few days.
The week began with Christian McCaffrey going on season-ending injured/reserve with an ankle problem suffered at the Miami Dolphins. This was followed by even more disappointment when Donte Jackson was also put on the shelf.
The speedy cornerback now faces an uncertain future with the franchise.
Jackson is out of contract in 2022 and considering how many other players are also looking for new deals, it might mean the 2018 second-round pick is looking for a different team to call home next spring. ]
Carolina Panthers might not be able to keep Donte Jackson.
Jackson has performed well overall this season. Although his final two games left a sour taste in the mouth as he found life difficult against Terry McLaurin and Jaylen Waddle.
Carolina’s depth at cornerback looks pretty solid even without Jackson. Stephon Gilmore is still an elite talent, C.J. Henderson and Keith Taylor have both shown promise of late, and there is also the return from injury of No. 8 overall selection Jaycee Horn next season to consider.
The point is, there is a good chance Jackson has played his last game for the Panthers. Here are four teams where he could end up if this scenario comes to fruition.
