Here are some bold predictions for the Carolina Panthers when they come off their Week 13 bye in pursuit of salvaging something from the 2021 season.
The bye week is always anticipated by players as they are afforded time to rest, recuperate, and mentally prepare for the remainder of the regular season.
Guys will watch game-film and study what they need to do for further improvements, hit the weight room, and spend some desired time with family. Many are nursing injuries and can use this off week in the trainer’s room to get their body back on track.
The Carolina Panthers coaching staff has ample opportunity to evaluate what worked well to this point in the season, find areas of emphasis to shore up any deficiencies, and adjust game plans to best fit the strengths of the roster.
On the other hand, fans are left counting the days until the team is back on the field facing an opponent. Although probably every Panthers fan is welcoming a week off given how the team has performed of late.
Going into Week 13, the team sits at 5-7 occupying last place in the division and 12th place in the conference. With only the top seven earning a trip to the playoffs, the light is dimming on Carolina’s postseason hopes.
Mathematically, there is still hope of earning a wildcard spot.
Realistically though, the fanbase realizes the season will end after Week 18, thanks in no small part to a brutal upcoming stretch of four division opponents in five games along with the Buffalo Bills with injuries mounting.
As we navigate the murky waters with the playoffs still in grasp but a top-10 draft pick as well, let’s look at four bold predictions once Carolina’s returns from their bye.
