Marquis Haynes – Carolina Panthers DE/OLB

There’s no doubt that Marquis Haynes is a solid contributor for the Carolina Panthers. Despite having a limited role on the rotation once again this season, the edge defender has made the most out of whatever snaps he’s been allocated, making some big plays along the way.

Just why Haynes has been involved so little is a testament to the strength of Carolina’s pass-rushing options, led by the stud duo of Brian Burns and Haason Reddick. The former Ole Miss standout will obviously be disappointed by this lack of involvement, but he could seek another opportunity elsewhere this spring with the promise of more playing time.

Haynes is out of contract in 2022 and it remains to be seen whether he’ll come back. He has been on the field for just 20 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this season, which is the lowest since his rookie campaign and not what the player had in mind.

However, with three sacks, four quarterback hits, seven tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pressures, and a 61.7 grade from Pro Football Focus, there is plenty to suggest Haynes would thrive with extra responsibility on his shoulders.

The Panthers would no doubt like to keep Haynes around in some capacity. Although the player might take that out of their hands for a fresh start and an increase in reps elsewhere.
