P.J. Walker – Carolina Panthers QB

The quarterback carousel on the Carolina Panthers has been well documented and incredibly frustrating. Something that puts into doubt just how capable those in power actually is when it comes to evaluating pro talent at the position.

Perhaps the one player lost in all this happens to be P.J. Walker. The backup option who’s been thrown to the wolves on countless occasions during the tenures of Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, and Cam Newton.

Walker certainly flashes capability at times. Although he’s not often helped by an offensive line that’s a big root of the problems in Carolina currently.

The coaching staff doesn’t appear all that confident in Walker becoming their starting option. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have brought Newton back in the first place.

This could lead the former XFL MVP candidate to take his chances elsewhere when his contract expires. More than a few teams are looking for quarterback help and when Walker has started in Carolina, he’s impressed with eye-catching mobility and a live arm.

Just what the Panthers are going to at the quarterback position this offseason is anyone’s guess. But there might not be a better time for Walker to compete for a potential starting job elsewhere if he chooses the right destination.
