3 critical factors behind Joe Brady’s demise with the Carolina Panthers
By Dean Jones
Joe Brady was limited by QB carousel and poor OL
It’s easy to fire all the blame at Joe Brady’s feet. The offensive coordinator will probably be the first to tell you that he should’ve done better in the grand scheme of things.
But the Carolina Panthers’ poor personnel decisions in two critical areas on offense also had more than a part to play in Brady’s eventual firing.
Carolina’s trotted out no fewer than three starting quarterbacks with differing skill sets this season. Not exactly a stable environment to develop a clear and concise scheme to keep the chains moving consistently.
Teddy Bridgewater deserves an apology.
There’s no doubt about that right now.
If the quarterback situation wasn’t bad enough, the Panthers’ offensive line is an absolute abomination and did not get the necessary investment to make any sort of strides during the offseason.
This is something that’s come up a bunch in critical moments and throughout key contests. Some of the starting lineups were borderline malpractice and it’s hard for a coordinator to run anything more than basic calls when opposing rushers are getting into the backfield in the blink of an eye.
These are all personnel decisions part of a much bigger problem. If those in power don’t solve such issues at the earliest possible opportunity, Brady’s head won’t be the only one rolling.
