Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

This is the last thing everyone thought possible when the Carolina Panthers avoided the temptation of trading Robby Anderson before or during the 2021 NFL Draft and giving the wide receiver a two-year extension this offseason.

However, things have been far from promising where the wideout is concerned throughout the current campaign and if an acceptable offer comes along this time around, the Panthers might want to consider it.

Anderson’s suffered from drops this season. His route-running is also missing the same explosiveness and he hasn’t been helped by inconsistent quarterback play – coupled with a distinct lack of chemistry – with former New York Jets teammate Sam Darnold.

This has been disappointing, to say the least. Anderson has all the ability in the world, but it just hasn’t come together in a productive fashion as yet.

Of course, that might change now Cam Newton is under center. And in fairness to Anderson, he’s got his catch success percentage way up since the Auburn product made a bombshell return to Carolina.

Hopefully, a sign of things to come down the stretch.

Trading Anderson before June 1 would come with a cap saving of $9.1 million and a $7.6 million dead-cap figure. If the Panthers waited until after this date, the free funds would increase to $13 million with $3.8 million in dead money.
