A.J. Bouye – Carolina Panthers CB

The Carolina Panthers have an embarrassment of riches at the cornerback position. But that might not be the case for much longer with Stephon Gilmore and Donte Jackson out of contract this offseason.

It might be difficult to keep them both around. Although it all depends on just how much money each established veteran is looking for when it’s all said and done.

Even if the Panthers only manage to keep one of them, they still have three promising young corners in Keith Taylor, C.J. Henderson, and No. 8 overall selection Jaycee Horn to call upon. Not a bad situation to be in by any stretch of the imagination.

Providing all three mentioned make the necessary strides forward, then it could leave A.J. Bouye surplus to requirements and on the trade block. The former Pro Bowler with the Jacksonville Jaguars has done well overall this season, although he won’t want to spend too long looking at the tape from his two outings before the bye week.

Teams are always looking for help at cornerback. If the Panthers decided to shop Bouye before the draft, he might have one or two suitors in pursuit of getting back some draft capital.

Should Carolina trade Bouye, it would cost them $1.2 million in dead-cap money and provide those in power with $3.5 million to spend elsewhere.
