Carolina Panthers have just five games remaining

If a coach is going to be fired during the season, the bye week is a common timeframe to execute that decision. With only five games remaining in the regular season, what advantage does this provide the Carolina Panthers as opposed to letting Joe Brady finish the campaign?

The offense is still integrating a quarterback in Cam Newton who has not fully grasped the playbook. We are now back to ground zero with a different play-caller, perhaps different plays and/or terminology, and possibly more freedom to let the former Auburn star make adjustments at the line of scrimmage or scramble out of the pocket.

This is not 2015 when Newton was in his 20’s and he is now the owner of an extensive injury list. He can no longer withstand the harsh punishment of hits all game. Especially behind this offensive line who give up pressure seemingly at will.

What does new play-caller Jeff Nixon bring to the table?

Well, he is a Rhule disciple who tagged along from Baylor.

Rhule is doubling down on his collegiate success hoping to find a spark that will ignite a flame at the professional level. With only five games remaining, the team is no closer to winning any more games than they were on Saturday.
