Who could potentially be long-term replacements for Joe Brady after the offensive coordinator was fired by the Carolina Panthers?

Any expected move for many.

For others, it was a real surprise.

Either way, the Joe Brady tenure with the Carolina Panthers is now at an end.

The Panthers fired their offensive coordinator just as football games were kicking off up and down the country on Sunday. This came after a reported meeting between Matt Rhule and Brady, where the head coach outlined why his services were no longer required.

It’s strange timing, obviously. And with five games to go during what’s been a rollercoaster campaign in Carolina, just how much will get fixed in such a short timeframe is another matter.

That being said, there was a clear clash of ethos between Rhule and Brady. So a rapid divorce was the only potential outcome.

Rhule wants to adopt a power running game despite having no Christian McCaffrey and a paperweight offensive line. Brady was looking to implement a passing mentality with no consistent quarterback play and one of the league’s worst offensive lines when it comes to pass protection.

Just where the Panthers go from here is uncertain. Long-time Rhule loyalist Jeff Nixon will assume play-calling duties in Brady’s absence, but whether this is a situation that continues beyond the current campaign is highly debatable.

With this in mind, here are four potential long-term offensive coordinator candidates for the Panthers to consider.
