Which Carolina Panthers players have seen their stock crash as the team gets set to return from their long-awaited 2021 bye week?
It wasn’t exactly dull for the Carolina Panthers during their bye week. No sooner had their time off started, Christian McCaffrey and Donte Jackson were placed on season-ending injured/reserve. This was followed by the firing of Joe Brady as offensive coordinator on Sunday in another somewhat surprising move.
Something is clearly not right within the organization.
And desperate times obviously call for desperate measures.
Carolina can make all the scapegoats they like. But time is running out to turn things around and especially considering how difficult things might get over the next five contests.
Some individuals on the roster have also seen things transpire in ways not many expected. Here are five Panthers players whose stock has crashed beyond repair in 2021 for very differing reasons.
Player No. 1
Trent Scott – Carolina Panthers OL
It’s been hard for the offensive line overall this season. Not entirely unexpected when one considers how little the Panthers invested in this particular area of the field during the offseason.
Trent Scott actually performed well at guard over a two-game period. But his contribution just isn’t up to the required standard and the player’s career could be hanging in the balance this offseason as a result.
Scott had the dubious distinction of attaining a 0.0 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus at the Miami Dolphins. Although it’s not the gold standard, that type of thing doesn’t go unnoticed by teams across the league.
