Carolina Panthers OL cannot improve

Everybody saw this coming.

Everybody apart from the Carolina Panthers, obviously.

The offensive line has been a disgrace for a large part of the campaign. Only right tackle Taylor Moton has emerged with any sort of credit so far and outside of an encouraging three-game stretch in midseason, this is easily one of the league’s worst units.

Questionable free-agent signings and mid-level draft selections reeked of not prioritizing this crucial area of the field. Something that has been reflected in dismal pass protection and a failure to provide consistent running lanes.

This has to change. Otherwise, nothing is going to improve.

Perhaps a run-first mindset will make things better. The protection is more efficient on running plays, which doesn’t exactly say much.

Whether the coaching staff sees this as a good time to experiment or not is up for debate. The Panthers are still miraculously in the playoff picture and throwing someone like former Alabama star Deonte Brown into the mix is a gamble with no more margin for error.

On the flip side, how much worse could Brady Christensen and Brown be than what we’ve seen this season?

The pressure is on this offensive line to stand up and be counted. Failure to do so would be a disaster.
