Carolina Panthers revamped offense

Writing an article about this game would be incomplete without a mention of it being the audition for Jeff Nixon as offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers.

The offense has been incredibly disappointing when you consider how well things started for the team this year. Sam Darnold even looked like a completely different man in Carolina for those first few games.

However, things quickly got sour after Christian McCaffrey, the entire gameplan, went down with yet another injury and the team just went downhill from there. Culminating in the firing of Joe Brady and Nixon’s promotion.

Nixon was Matt Rhule’s offensive coordinator at Baylor and was brought in to coach the running backs for the Panthers this season. Actually having some experience will go a long way to making this a smooth transition. One that if it goes well will start questions about whether the team got his and Brady’s roles backward from the beginning.

We can assume that the run game will be more of a priority given Nixon’s previous role with the team. But we don’t really know what this offense is going to look like.

One thing we can know for certain though, this team will look different for the first time all season and that will be a breath of fresh air for every Panthers fan.

This move may prove to be a temporary one. However, if the Panthers light it up on Sunday, especially after the disaster that was their last game, it could get just a little bit more permanent for more than just Nixon.
