Here are some bold predictions as the Carolina Panthers look to start their tricky run-in on a high against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14.

There is no more room for excuses as the Carolina Panthers return from their bye week on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. This represents another winnable game for Matt Rhule’s men at Bank of America, although they’ve fluffed their lines on more than one occasion during the current campaign when the odds were in the team’s favor.

It’s been a fortnight of soul searching for the Panthers and Rhule, who took the decision to fire offensive coordinator Joe Brady and replace him with a more trusted ally in Jeff Nixon. Whether this pays off or not has yet to be determined, but it’s just another piece of drama enveloping the franchise at a critical stage of the season.

Atlanta currently sits at 5-7 following their home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If things don’t start trending in the right direction, then some big changes could be on the way this offseason where the Falcons are concerned.

Without further ado, here are five bold predictions for the Panthers in Week 14.

Bold Prediction No. 1

Carolina Panthers

Cam Erving has his best game for the Carolina Panthers

It’s been a difficult season due to injury and poor performance for Cam Erving. Not entirely unexpected when the Panthers signed the offensive lineman to a two-year deal on the very first day of free agency.

Head coach Matt Rhule expects Erving to start at left tackle on Sunday after being designated to return from the injured/reserved list. And this represents a good opportunity for the former first-round pick to have the best game of the campaign to date.

Atlanta’s defensive front wouldn’t be classed as stellar on the edge. If Erving can raise his game accordingly, this should be a comfortable afternoon for the Florida State product.

Whether he can accomplish this or not is another matter.
