Grayson McCall – Coastal Carolina

Selecting a quarterback at the top end of the draft is a massive decision that shapes the future of a franchise. One false move or not setting the prospect up for success can set a team back years, so if the Carolina Panthers go down this route, their conviction level has to be nothing less than 100 percent.

There is a lot of football to be played between now and the 2023 draft. But the gifts displayed by Grayson McCall over the past two seasons at Coastal Carolina should make more than a few scouts across the league sit up and take notice.

McCall seemingly has everything one looks for in an NFL quarterback. He has the necessary size, can make almost every throw possible, is efficient with the football, and can get out on the move if a certain play isn’t developing as expected.

The player has 46 touchdowns to just six interceptions over the last two campaigns. McCall’s passer efficiency rating in 2021 was an outstanding 207.9.

If there was one thing that stands out where McCall is concerned, it’s processing. The prospect is able to go through his reads effectively, which is something the Panthers simply didn’t get from Sam Darnold more often than not.

Should McCall make additional strides this offseason ahead of the 2022 campaign, then he is going to be an extremely hot commodity when it comes to his own evaluation process.
