KJ Jefferson – Arkansas

The perception about what a quarterback should be has changed in recent years. It all started with Michael Vick and was enhanced by Cam Newton, who completely revolutionized how the position was played when the Carolina Panthers selected him No. 1 overall in 2011.

Mobility and dual-threat are key. Whether it be Kyler Murray or Lamar Jackson, having a quarterback that could do it all is a key component in any successful NFL franchise right now and this trend is unlikely to end anytime soon.

This makes KJ Jefferson a player to watch closely. The Arkansas prospect is an electrifying threat under center, coming up with splash plays on countless occasions in 2021 to see his draft stock go through the roof.

Jefferson has some kinks to work out. His accuracy and decision-making need some minor refinement, but he can make things happen at the drop of a hat with a live arm and physical running style that’s incredibly difficult to stop.

Many teams – the Panthers included – might be regretting the fact they passed on Jackson. Some even asked whether the former NFL MVP would consider moving to a wide receiver in the pros.

A laughable concept looking back. But the Panthers and others won’t want to miss out on what could potentially be the next exciting dual-threat quarterback providing Jefferson brings his game on further next year.
