4 Carolina Panthers players who must be demoted immediately

A.J. Bouye – Carolina Panthers CB
Although A.J. Bouye’s production has been relatively pleasing overall since joining the Carolina Panthers, there are some signs that the veteran is becoming something of a weak link within the secondary. The cornerback has struggled in coverage on occasions over the last few weeks, and it might now be time for the young blood to move about the former Pro Bowler on the depth chart.
Perhaps moving Bouye back to safety would be an option to consider. This obviously comes with some upside, especially considering how coverage has been on the backend throughout the season.
The Panthers have Keith Taylor and C.J. Henderson to put in alongside All-Pro corner Stephon Gilmore, who shouldered more responsibility than ever versus the Falcons as he continues his encouraging return from a torn quad.
Obviously, there is no substitute for experience. But Carolina needs to bring on the young duo in readiness for 2022 when No. 8 overall selection Jaycee Horn is also set to recover fully from a broken foot.
Bouye still has a year remaining on his deal after this one. So giving him the opportunity to make a potential switch to safety is something to consider with Juston Burris out of contract this spring.
It probably won’t happen. But it’s something the coaching staff should talk about, at the very least.
There is very little to play for other than pride now. So experimenting with Bouye at safety and giving young cornerbacks additional reps might be the best avenue to go down.
