Pat Meyer – Carolina Panthers OL coach

This might be something of a last resort for Matt Rhule considering his close ties to Pat Meyer, but the offensive line has been an absolute embarrassment for most of the campaign and it doesn’t appear to be getting better anytime soon.

One could point the finger at the decision-makers who failed to prioritize this critical area of the field. However, Meyer also needs to take some heat for not putting the options at his disposal in the right positions to succeed.

The constant chopping and changing aren’t helping. And the assessment of Brady Christensen is hanging the rookie out to dry in a position he didn’t even play before getting to the NFL.

A coach can only work with the hand he’s been dealt. The Carolina Panthers have struggled to find any sort of consistency when it comes to protection for many years and it’s something the new regime is having a hard time fixing.

If it isn’t their top priority during the offseason, then it’s another real lack of judgment from the coaching staff and front office alike.

If substantial improvements aren’t made, then Meyer could be someone relieved of his duties when the campaign comes to a conclusion.
