Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule’s position is becoming untenable

Head coach next.

Those were apparently the words from a league source when speaking to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk in the wake of the Carolina Panthers removing offensive coordinator Joe Brady from his responsibilities.

And as the weeks go by it’s getting more and more difficult to see a way Matt Rhule leads this team in Year 3. The team frankly has regressed since the first year under the former Temple man.

The front office made trades that indicated that the Panthers were in a win-now mentality. Winning is something that Carolina has done very little of under Rhule and the regression in 2021 has been something of huge concern to fans.

Rhule’s decision-making at the quarterback position alone is a reason for worry. Just 29 games into his tenure, the head coach is on his fourth starting signal-caller and the chances are that come next season the Panthers will be paying a significant number of cap money to pay two players no longer on the team.

A lot of Panthers fans were prepared to strap in for a full-scale rebuild like we’re seeing with the Detroit Lions. However, with no progression under the current regime, team owner David Tepper must make a change and quickly if he wants to bring winning to Charlotte.
