Carolina Panthers defense deserves a lot of criticism

Over the majority of the season, the Carolina Panthers defensive unit has mostly avoided any criticism. However, over the last three weeks, they have been subpar at best and deserve to be called out for it.

We saw again a unit that failed to generate any sort of momentum against the Atlanta Falcons. The defensive backs dropped multiple interceptions, for the whole Matt Ryan had a clean pocket to operate in as the Panthers had zero sacks and once again Carolina couldn’t stop the run effectively.

Carolina gave up multiple third and long situations including a key play towards the end of the game when those still in attendance witnessed comical scenes of linebacker Jermaine Carter tripping over Myles Hartsfield in pursuit of Kyle Pitts – something which proved unsuccessful and iced the game.

The Panthers also had a situation where on one drive they dropped three interceptions from Ryan with the drive ending in a Cordarelle Patterson touchdown.

Now with the coaching issues elsewhere, you’d imagine Snow’s job is safe. But over the last four games of the season, it’s important we see some of the early season play from a talented defensive group.
