Carolina Panthers OL remains a problem

Here we go again.

The Carolina Panthers offensive line carousel saw its ninth starting combination of the season. With Cam Erving activated off IR, he was for some reason put straight back into the lineup, and injuries to Michael Jordan and John Miller saw Dennis Daley and career left tackle Brady Christensen getting the start.

Although Carolina only gave up one sack, it was once again a comedy of errors from this poorly coached unit. The awful play of Daley and Erving once again left fans scratching their head as to how they’re seeing the field at tackle, but don’t forget they’ve both got really long arms.

We even had center Pat Elflein tripping up Cam Newton leading to a fumble and stalling a promising drive. It’s really just laughable at this point.

The progression of Christensen is one sticking point with fans. Matt Rhule drew the ire of fans by suggesting the former BYU stud’s future was at either guard or center – a strange thing to say in public regarding a player that hadn’t even played on the interior before joining the Panthers.

Offensive line coach Pat Meyer is one you’d imagine will not see the 2022 season in Carolina unless substantial improvements aren’t made down the stretch. Something that appears almost impossible with the team’s current options.
